This Land Ltd., a development business owned by Cambridgeshire County Council, has submitted its revised plans to the East Cambridgeshire District Council to build 575 new homes as part of the Soham Eastern Gateway project.
The original planning application was submitted in June 2017, however it was later withdrawn for further development. Soham Eastern Gateway’s location will be set to the east of Weatheralls Primary School, which lies between the town and the A142 bypass.
What Does This Mean for Soham?
This Land Ltd. has stated that not only will this project provide up to 575 new homes in Soham, but also the town will see the introduction of affordable housing, a brand-new Medical centre, a new Ofsted ‘outstanding’ School and enhanced green spaces to encourage local biodiversity.
It has been estimated that 163 jobs will be created during the construction of the Gateway, with long-term employment opportunities being possible through the creation of this new community hub. If that wasn’t enough to entice prospective homeowners, hyper-fast broadband is also set to benefit the area, alongside the rest of the community.
Managing Director of This Land Ltd., David Gwelling, stated: “We want to create an exemplary, accessible development that will help boost the local economy, provide employment, and create a vibrant environment”.
New homeowners are set to move in as soon as 2021 if the revised plans are accepted.
